FAQs for TDR Drones
My drone does not response to the remote controller.

A: The drone needs to bind (synchronize) to the remote controller before they can be used together. Please refer to your user manual for how to bind a specific model of drone to controller. If you lose your manual, it can be downloaded from our downloads section.

I have an issue binding the drone and controller.

A: The most common cause is the battery level being too low, please try to recharge the battery or replace it. Also, sometimes the drone will have difficulty binding with controller if it's not laid flat on a flat surface; therefore, please always try laying the drone on a flat surface before binding.

When I try to takeoff, all blades spin fine but drone does not take off the ground or not flying properly.

A: The most common cause is wrong placement for the blade installation. The blades may look similar but there are actually clockwise and counterclockwise designed blades and need to be installed correctly before the drone can fly properly, please refer to user manual for proper blade installation.

My drone drifts in a direction while hovering without me pressing the direction stick.

A: You may need to make trim adjustments. To do so, safely land the drone on a level surface. Press the trim button (refer to the user manual) in the opposite direction of the drift. If the drone continues to drift, repeat the process until drifting ceases. Also, please check the blade and see if they are damaged or misplaced, replace or reinstall if necessary.

[For TDR Robin Series] Some of the blades are not spinning normally before or during flight.

A: Your TDR Robin may need to recalibrate its gyroscope. The gyroscope system inside the drone can get off balanced during shipping, handling and transportations. It's actually very easy to recalibrate:

1)      Place the Robin on a flat surface.

2)      Turn the Robin and the controller on, let them bind.

3)      Hold both sticks on controller to bottom left for 2 seconds.

4)      The LED lights on Robin will start to blink quickly, let go of the sticks.

5)      Wait for the LED light to go solid.

6)      The calibration is done.

How do I connect my drone to my smart phone?*

A: The WiFi drones can be connected to your smart phone for live streaming video/photo, FPV view and flight control.  To do so, you will need to download the App onto your phone first, then turn on the drone. By then you shall be able to see a new WiFi hotspot (created by the drone) from your smart phone's WiFi list, connect to this WiFi hotspot. Once your phone connected to the Drone's WiFi, you can open the App and they are now connected. For details and downloads, please refer to the App installation guide came with the package, or download it from download section on our website.

Can I use a smart phone for live stream video but control it by the physical remote controller?

A: Yes, you can! First, bind the drone to the physical remote controller, then connect the drone to the smart phone app (please refer to the App installation guide); that way you'll be controlling the drone by the controller and have the smart phone as a live view video viewer.

Can I control the drone with the APP and controller at the same time?
A: No, you can only control the drone using either the App or the physical controller at the same time. However, you can always use the Smartphone as FPV viewing screen through the App on App-compatible models.

Can I control the drone with the APP?
A: Yes you can, the compatible App has on-screen sticks/buttons to control the drones.

Where are the video/picture file stored?

A: For WiFi series, the video/picture files will be stored directly onto the paired smart device (e.g.: smart phones or tablets). For 5.8G series, the video/picture files will be stored in the Micro SD card inserted into the body of the drone.

*Device

I can't find the photos or videos in my phone.

A: Make sure you have given permission to the App in accessing phone photos or albums when it asks for it.

Can I charge the battery with a iPhone (or other smart phones, tablets) wall charger?

A: Yes, the included USB cable will charge fine from a USB wall charger (like those from iPhone, iPad or most Android phones).

Can I fly outdoors?

A: On a clam day without wind, all TDR RC drones will handle the weather just fine. In a day with wind, Phoenix, Robin, and Spider will handle better than Yellow Jacket. However, we do not recommend flying Yellow Jacket outdoors on a windy day.

Are these RC drones waterproof? Can I fly on rainy day?

A: No they are not, please keep the RC drones away from water and do not fly on a rainy day.

Can two people fly two (or more) TDR RC drones at the same time? Same model?

A: Two or more TDR drones will not interfere with each other when operating in the same area, even for the same model. However, please do bind TDR drones and controllers one by one instead of binding multiple units at the same time.

When should I adjust the speed setting (sensitivity level) on my drone?

A: The sensitivity level can be increased as your flying skills develop. We recommend that you start in the lowest speed setting until you have mastered flying. Increasing the sensitivity level increases the speed of the drone as well as its ability to turn quickly.

Can I use a Micro SD card with bigger memory?

A: Yes, you can use a Micro SD card with up to 64GB memory.

Am I legal to fly TDR RC drones around?

A: Yes, you are absolutely legal to fly the TDR RC drones with cautions, as their weight does not meet the FAA registration requirements. (Unmanned aircraft that weighs more than 0.55lbs or 250g  must register with the Federal Aviation Administration's UAS registry before they fly outdoors.) However, individuals flying for hobby or recreation are strongly encouraged to follow safety guidelines:

  • Don't fly within 5 miles of an airport unless you contact the airport and control tower before flying

  • Don't fly near people or stadiums

  • Fly below 400 feet and remain clear of surrounding obstacles

  • Keep the aircraft within visual line of sight at all times

  • Remain well clear of and do not interfere with manned aircraft operations

  • Don't be careless or reckless with your unmanned aircraft – you could be fined for endangering people or other aircraft

Can I custom paint the RC drone body/parts to make it look unique?

A: It is not recommended, as the custom paint can add unwanted extra weight to the body, affecting the flying performance, and some paint can damage the plastic housing of the drone’s body.

What is the manufacturer recommended age for TDR RC drones?

A: 14 years and up
